According to authorities three men were injured in a crash caused by a driver running a red light. The accident occurred at approximately 11:30 p.m. on Sunday at the intersection of McFadden Avenue and Flower Street in Santa Ana.

According to Santa Ana Police Department Cmdr. Tammy Franks, the collision involved a black 2010 Toyota Corolla and a grey 1995 Mercury Cougar.

Cmdr. Franks said that it is unclear which vehicle ran the red light and there were no witnesses. The driver of the Toyota was traveling eastbound on McFadden Avenue and collided with the Cougar that was traveling northbound on Flower Street.

Three men were injured in the collision, including the driver of the Toyota that suffered serious, but not life threatening injuries. The driver of the Cougar and his passenger both suffered moderate injuries in the crash, according to Cmdr. Franks.

The accident occurred at approximately 1:45 p.m. causing a SigAlert to be issued. According to the Orange County Police Department says the intersection was still partially closed after 4:00 p.m. According to Chief Boyd, Orange County Fire Authority firefighters and paramedics treated at least nine people at the scene of the crash, with one being transported by air flight to UCI Medical Center and another person critically injured was transported to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana.
